Dr. Steve Sullivan
Practice Owner, Veterinarian
Dr. Steve Sullivan was born and raised in Pasadena and graduated from Deer Park High School (Go Fighting Deer!). He knew at a very early age that he wanted to either be a veterinarian or dig for dinosaur bones. When he matured to the ripe old age of 8, his interest in dinosaurs waned, but his passion for animal medicine did not. That was when he knew he was destined to become a veterinarian (or “vegetarian,” as he liked to say back then).
Dr. Sullivan graduated from Texas A&M University (Gig ’em, Aggies!) with his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree in 1996 and began his career as an associate veterinarian at Red Bluff Animal Hospital. In June 2005, he purchased Red Bluff Animal Hospital. Realizing he was getting way too much sleep, he bought Richey Animal Clinic in 2006.
Dr. Sullivan has been happily married since 1997. His wife works for Shell, and together they have three sons who continue to make him proud. His oldest son, Zach, graduated from Baylor University with a degree in Supply Chain Management. His middle son, Connor, attends Texas A&M University and plans to follow in his dad’s footsteps by becoming a veterinarian. His youngest son, Jacob, is studying engineering at Texas A&M University.
The Sullivan household also includes two feline supervisors. Willow is the definition of a laid-back cat; she graciously allows affection whenever she’s in the mood. Tux, on the other hand, is convinced his life’s purpose is to keep Willow on her toes by antagonizing her whenever possible. Somehow, they make it work.
In his free time, he likes to…wait, he doesn’t have any free time. On those rare occasions when he actually has free time, you’d probably find him spending time with his family, working out, fishing, playing a little poker, or cheering on the Aggies, Baylor Bears, and Iowa Hawkeyes.

Dr. Geovany Chimal
Veterinarian
Dr. Geovany Chimal has dreamed of becoming a veterinarian for as long as he can remember. Today, he feels incredibly fortunate to be living that dream and is excited to care for pets and their families here in Houston.
Originally from the State of Mexico, Dr. Chimal earned his veterinary degree from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) in Mexico City, one of Mexico’s most prestigious universities. After obtaining his U.S. veterinary license, he moved to Houston in March 2026 to begin an exciting new chapter in both his professional and personal life.
Dr. Chimal chose Houston because it allows him to remain close to his family and cultural roots while continuing to grow both personally and professionally in the United States. He was drawn to Houston’s vibrant, diverse community, where he has the opportunity to continue strengthening his English while also serving Spanish-speaking families in their native language.
He chose Richey Animal Clinic because its Pasadena location offers the opportunity to care for a diverse patient population, gain experience with a wide variety of medical and surgical cases, and work alongside Dr. Sullivan. Learning from Dr. Sullivan’s years of experience and clinical expertise was one of the factors that made joining the Richey Animal Clinic team such an exciting opportunity.
At 27 years old, Dr. Chimal brings enthusiasm, compassion, and a lifelong love of animals to every appointment. He enjoys helping pets stay healthy, performing surgeries, caring for sick and injured animals, and building trusting relationships with the families who love them. Surgery is one of his greatest professional passions, and he is committed to continually expanding his knowledge and skills to provide the highest quality surgical care for his patients.
Although his beloved pets, including five dogs, seventeen turtles, and two parrots, remain with his family back home, they continue to inspire his passion for veterinary medicine every day.
Outside of the clinic, Dr. Chimal enjoys swimming, continuing his education with a special interest in advanced veterinary surgery, and exploring everything Houston has to offer as he settles into his new home. He is fluent in both English and Spanish and is proud to provide care and communicate comfortably with clients in either language.
Dr. Chimal looks forward to meeting you, getting to know your pets, and helping them live long, happy, and healthy lives.
