Surgery

Does your pet’s upcoming surgery make you feel anxious?

Bringing a family member in for surgery can be nerve-wracking. At Richey Animal Clinic, we know exactly what you’re going through because we’re pet parents too! Rest assured that we’ll do whatever it takes to ensure that your loved one’s procedure is as safe and stress-free as possible. Families in Pasadena, Deer Park, and surrounding communities trust us for expert surgical care for their pets.

Pre-Surgical Care

Our surgical care begins with thorough preoperative screening, which helps reduce the risk of complications for your pet. We’ll also customize a safe, effective plan to keep your pet comfortable and pain-free – before, during, and following surgery.

Surgery

Whether routine or complex, your pet’s surgical procedure will be our highest priority. From the moment you arrive the morning of surgery, we’ll be there to ease your mind and help get your loved one settled in.
Once safely sedated, our team will complete the surgery as efficiently as possible. As the doctor works, our dedicated support staff will be there to assist with surgery and closely monitor your pet’s wellbeing.

Types of Surgery We Perform

We offer a comprehensive range of surgical services designed to support your pet’s health at every stage of life. Our team is experienced in both routine and advanced procedures, ensuring your pet receives the highest level of care.

  • Spay and neuter procedures
  • Soft tissue surgeries
  • Mass and tumor removals
  • Dental extractions
  • Foreign body removal
  • Wound and laceration repair

Emergency and Urgent Surgical Care

We also provide emergency and urgent surgical care when your pet needs immediate attention. These situations can be stressful and time-sensitive, and our team is equipped to act quickly to stabilize and treat your pet with precision and compassion.

This includes treatment for conditions such as pyometra, a serious and potentially life-threatening uterine infection that affects unspayed female pets. Pyometra occurs when the uterus fills with infected fluid, often developing quickly and without obvious early warning signs. Pets with this condition may show symptoms such as lethargy, loss of appetite, increased thirst, vomiting, or discharge, though some cases can be more difficult to detect. Because the infection can spread rapidly and lead to sepsis, prompt surgical intervention is critical. Treatment typically involves an emergency spay procedure to remove the infected uterus and stabilize your pet, giving them the best chance for a full recovery.

After Care

After surgery, we’ll carefully relocate your pet to our recovery area, where our staff will offer comfort and reassurance. When you arrive to pick up your pet, we’ll discuss our aftercare instructions, including a plan for pain management.

Surgery doesn’t have to be a source of anxiety, especially with the experienced, compassionate team at Richey Animal Clinic by your side. Proudly supporting pets and their families throughout Pasadena, Deer Park, and surrounding communities, we’re here to ensure your pet receives the care they deserve every step of the way.
